In India, at least 25 people killed in explosion at fireworks factory
At least 25 people were killed due to an explosion at a fireworks factory in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Police in the state reported this to journalists.
At the time of the explosion, around 40 workers were inside the factory building. The blast was so powerful that it destroyed several production facilities. The injured have been taken to hospitals, with some in critical condition.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing at the site. An investigation has been launched. Preliminary data suggests that the cause of the explosion was a violation of safety regulations.
