Kuibyshev refinery on fire in Samara after Ukrainian drone attack

On the night of September 22, Ukraine attacked the Samara region. The region's governor, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, said that "dozens of drones" were shot down over the region.

According to him, "the enemy was targeting industrial enterprises." Fedorishchev did not specify which enterprises these were.

According to an analysis by Astra, the Kuibyshev refinery (part of Rosneft) is on fire — one of the largest enterprises in the oil industry in the region. It has already been attacked several times before; in August 2025 the plant suspended operations.

According to the Ukrainian monitoring channel Supernova+, the fires preliminarily broke out in the area of the AVT-4 and AVT-5 primary oil refining units.
