Japarov: Crime has been eradicated, corruption is next in line
President Sadyr Japarov, at a meeting with American investors in New York, stated that the authorities of Kyrgyzstan eradicated crime within 24 hours.
According to him, before 2020 organized crime in the country was closely linked to the authorities and helped eliminate undesirable politicians.
"What did we do? We eradicated crime in 24 hours, put thousands of people in prison. Now we have no racketeering. The economy is growing thanks to this and to the fight against corruption," Japarov said.
He specified that fighting corruption has proved more difficult than fighting crime.
"We have not yet managed to eradicate it, but today the situation is no longer what it used to be. No one will demand kickbacks or percentages from you — you will be able to work in peace," the president told the businessmen.
