Teacher from Mingachevir defrauded a student's mother of 65,000 manats
In Mingachevir, a verdict has been handed down against a woman accused of large-scale fraud involving an acquaintance.
As 1news.az reports, citing Qafqazinfo, Sevinj Mahmudova, born in 1980, previously worked as a physics teacher at the Kalbajar school located in Mingachevir.
It was established that the woman was also engaged in private tutoring. During the investigation, it emerged that she learned about a large sum of money held by the mother of one of her students and decided to take possession of those funds.
Mahmudova gained the woman's trust and told her that she was allegedly involved in the gold trade. Under the pretext of participating in this business, she received 65,000 manats from the victim.
It later turned out that the defendant's promises did not correspond to reality, and the money she received was appropriated.
A criminal case was initiated against Sevinj Mahmudova under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, which provides for liability for large-scale fraud.
The Shaki Court for Serious Crimes found her guilty and sentenced her to five years of imprisonment. After the verdict was announced, Mahmudova was taken into custody directly in the courtroom.
In addition, the court examined the victim's civil claim and ruled to recover 48,000 manats from the convict as compensation for the damage caused.
