Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Iran Discuss Regional Situation
On March 1, 2026, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi.
As reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, the discussion focused on the situation arising from military actions in Iran and the military escalation in the region.
The Iranian Foreign Minister provided information on the current situation and the steps being taken.
Jeyhun Bayramov expressed deep concern over the tragic escalation of the situation in the region and conveyed condolences for the loss of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and civilian casualties.
Hope was expressed for the swift cessation of military actions and the resolution of the situation solely based on the norms and principles of international law, through dialogue and diplomacy.
It was also emphasized that the territory of Azerbaijan cannot be used by any country against its neighboring and friendly state, Iran.
During the conversation, the parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
