Infantino and Mamedov meet with Iranian national team ahead of friendly match in Antalya
FIFA President Gianni Infantino held a meeting with the players and management of the Iranian national football team. Also in attendance was Elhan Mamedov, who serves as FIFA's Chief Member Associations Officer.
The discussions took place in Antalya, where the Iranian team is preparing for a friendly match against the Costa Rica national team. In addition to the players, Infantino spoke with Mehdi Mohammed Nabi, the First Vice President of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Omid Jamali, the head of the federation's international relations department, and the team's head coach, Amir Ghalenoei.
The FIFA President congratulated 'Team Melli' on securing their qualification for the 2026 World Cup. According to him, representing a country on the global stage is a significant responsibility, and he urged the players to continue inspiring their fans.
Infantino also emphasized that FIFA will continue to provide comprehensive support to the team in their preparations for the tournament. 'Football unites and gives hope even in the most challenging circumstances,' he noted.
