Mass poisoning occurs at kindergartens in Tbilisi
At least 55 children and one more teacher from 20 kindergartens in Tbilisi were hospitalized after being poisoned.
This was stated in a statement by the investigative service of Georgia's Ministry of Finance.
"According to the information currently available, 55 pupils and one teacher from 20 kindergartens in Tbilisi had signs of intoxication. They turned to six medical institutions in Tbilisi for medical assistance," the statement says.
In connection with the incident, the investigative service opened a criminal case under the article "Manufacture, import or sale of products dangerous to human life or health that created a threat to life or health" of Georgia's Criminal Code. Throughout the night, investigative measures were carried out at four kindergartens, as well as at three companies supplying products to the kindergartens.
According to preliminary information, it involves bacterial intoxication, the source of which was food consumed at the kindergartens, the investigative service indicated.
