Hosting the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku is both a great honor and a serious responsibility for Azerbaijan.
As 1news.az reports, this was stated in his speech by Anar Guliyev, chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture.
According to him, Baku, where historical heritage harmoniously combines with modern development, has become the main platform for global urban dialogue at such an important stage—in the year of the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the New Urban Agenda.
Anar Guliyev noted that the forum is of particular importance in terms of discussing challenges such as rapid urbanization, housing shortages, climate risks, and post-conflict recovery.
"Providing housing is not only a social issue, but also a factor of economic development, climate resilience, and human dignity," emphasized the head of the state committee.
In his opinion, housing policy should be based on a comprehensive approach covering land use, transport, infrastructure, green spaces, and social integration.
