“I always try to show one thing: no matter what happens, I won’t go anywhere. You hit me — I hit back even harder.”

As 1news.az correspondent reports, this was said by Ukrainian fighter Daniil Donchenko, who became the winner of the third fight of the UFC Fight Night tournament held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku.

As the fighter noted, if the opponent wins a small episode, he makes sure the next exchange remains his and inflicts greater damage: “I punched to the body, landed low kicks, constantly moved forward and forced him to work every second.”

“I knew he would come at me. And I knew I would break him. Maybe not in the first round, maybe in the second or third, but I understood that it was only a matter of time. Honestly, I had to hold myself back. My main task was not to start brawling from the very first gong and not to put all my strength into every strike,” noted D. Donchenko.

According to him, the main part of his game plan consisted of maintaining discipline, not running into a high kick and not fighting like a reckless berserker in the center of the octagon. He wanted to show patience, stick to the plan and gradually dismantle the opponent piece by piece.
