Missed punch but took victory: Sharabutdin Magomedov recalls critical moment at UFC Fight Night
"Before the fight I kept telling myself that the most important thing was not to miss that right punch. Now it sounds funny because in the end I still missed it."
As 1news.az correspondent reports, Russian fighter Sharabutdin Magomedov, who became the winner of the UFC Fight Night bout held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, said this while answering journalists' questions.
According to the fighter, he initially understood his opponent's strategy, who was looking for an opportunity to land one crushing right-hand strike. He noted that the opponent, sensing blood, immediately rushed in for the finish, but this aggression was turned to his own advantage: "I tried to use these moments to my benefit. I kept working from the bottom, throwing elbows and looking for open areas. At some point I felt that I had recovered and was ready to respond. I started working more aggressively because I really wanted to land cleanly on him and test his chin with my strikes."
