Ursula von der Leyen promised Pashinyan EU assistance
The EU will continue to assist in advancing the programs of the Armenian government and in developing cooperation in various areas.
President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen stated this at a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in New York.
According to the prime minister's press service, the parties discussed issues concerning the Armenia-EU cooperation agenda.
The prime minister emphasized the importance of European assistance to the process of diversifying Armenia's economy and to the decisions made for this purpose. Pashinyan also emphasized the EU's support in terms of the "effective implementation of democratic reforms" in Armenia.
The interlocutors also examined topics of regional significance.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that rapprochement with the European Union fits into the balanced foreign policy pursued by Yerevan. According to him, Yerevan "sits on one Armenian chair." Pashinyan also expressed bewilderment regarding the opinion about the likelihood of deception on the part of the EU leadership.
