Max Verstappen: I was close to Russell, but not enough

Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, who finished second at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, said that he gave it everything in the race, but it was not enough for victory.

As 1news.az reports, the Dutch driver said this in an interview after the race.

"During the race I was able to move up to third place. Then, gathering my strength again, I moved into second position. The gap to the leader was about 1.1 seconds. On the final lap there were yellow flags, and because of that George (Russell - ed.) lost a bit of acceleration on the exit of the corner. It was precisely thanks to this that I managed to get a little closer to him. At the finish I was very close, but it turned out not to be enough. I really did everything I could," Verstappen said.

Let us note that the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix was won by Mercedes driver George Russell. Max Verstappen of Red Bull finished just 0.196 seconds behind the winner. Third place went to another Red Bull representative, Isack Hadjar.
