Turan Tovuz to donate Fenerbahce friendly revenue to Karabakh Revival Fund
Revenue from the Oct. 3, 2026, friendly between Turan Tovuz and Turkey's Fenerbahce in Baku will go to the Karabakh Revival Fund under a memorandum of understanding signed on Sept. 28, 2026.
Rahman Hajiyev, chairman of the Management Board of the Karabakh Revival Fund, and Ehtiram Guliyev, chairman of the board of Turan Tovuz PFK IB, signed the document.
The money raised will finance projects for the rebuilding of the liberated territories and the sustainable development of the region.
Hajiyev welcomed the step taken for the revival of Garabagh and thanked the management of Turan Tovuz PFK IB for the initiative. Sport is not only an arena of competition but also a platform that unites different parts of society around common goals, he said.
The donation of the revenue from a match between two clubs with such deep roots shows once again the uniting and charitable power of sport, Hajiyev said.
Guliyev said the game would be an attractive football occasion for fans and also carried particular importance because it served a charitable purpose. The arrangement gives both the clubs and the fans a chance to support the revival of Garabagh, he said.
The two clubs have met before, in the UEFA Cup in 1994. They played on Aug. 9, 1994, at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium in Istanbul and on Aug. 23, 1994, at the Mehdi Huseynzade stadium in Sumgayit. They will face each other again after 32 years, this time in a friendly.
The match will be played at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium and will start at 8 p.m.
