At the initiative of AFFA and with the support of Azerpost LLC, new postal stamps have been released to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the birth of the legendary Azerbaijani footballer Anatoliy Banishevsky.

As reported by AZERTAC with reference to the official website of AFFA, the new philatelic product reflects the rich sporting heritage of A. Banishevsky. The release consists of one postal stamp. Special postal cards have also been prepared to mark the anniversary.

The circulation of the stamp block is 2,500 copies, while the postal cards number 1,000 units. This initiative is of great importance in terms of preserving the legacy of A. Banishevsky and passing it on to future generations.

It should be noted that Anatoliy Banishevsky went down in history as one of the most outstanding footballers of Azerbaijan in the 20th century. As part of the USSR national team, he finished 4th at the 1966 World Cup and won a silver medal at the 1972 European Championship. At the club level, in 1966, he became a bronze medalist of the USSR Championship with Neftchi.

Having played more than 50 matches for the USSR national team, Banishevsky was awarded the Order of Shohrat in 1996. In 2004, according to UEFA, he was recognized as the best footballer of Azerbaijan over the past 50 years.
