Real announces early presidential elections

Real Madrid announced on its official website the holding of early elections for the president and the club's board of directors.

The commission announced the start of the electoral process. The deadline for submitting candidacies is limited to the period from May 14 to May 23, 2026, inclusive.

The date and place of voting will be announced later in case more than one candidacy is nominated. Voting by mail will also be available in accordance with the requirements and conditions established in the electoral regulations.

Earlier, the elections were announced by the current president of Real, Florentino Perez, during an emergency press conference. The Spaniard has held his post continuously since 2009, and before that from 2000 to 2006.
