Dismantling of emergency bridge begins in Gobustan
On the 55th kilometer of the M-2 Baku - Alyat - Gazakh - state border with Georgia highway, on the section passing through the territory of the Gobustan settlement, the dismantling of the emergency bridge has begun, instead of which a new one will be built.
As 1news.az reports, this was reported by the State Agency of Azerbaijan Highways.
The department noted that pile-driving work has been completed at the site to date. Currently, appropriate measures are being taken to erect the supports of the new single-span bridge.
It was emphasized that the construction of the new facility is being carried out in order to ensure the safety and stability of the existing transport infrastructure.
“Recall that on the third span (in the direction of Baku) of this three-span bridge, built back in the 1980s, there was previously a destruction and subsidence of the span beam. The initial technical examination showed that the structure had become completely unsuitable for further operation.
Currently, work on the reconstruction of the bridge continues. After the completion of the project, safer and uninterrupted traffic will be ensured on this section,” the Agency’s message says.
