In Azerbaijan, number of divorces among couples married more than 20 years grows

In 2025, 2,681 cases of divorce were registered in Azerbaijan among couples whose marriage lasted 20 years or more.

According to 1news.az, this was reported by the State Statistics Committee in response to a request from Report.

Statistical data show that over the past three years, the largest share of divorces has consistently been among marriages that lasted from 10 to 19 years.

In 2025, the total number of divorces in the country amounted to 20,675. Of these, 7,354 cases were recorded in marriages lasting 10-19 years, 5,795 in marriages with up to 5 years of experience, and 4,845 in unions that lasted from 5 to 9 years.

In 2024, the total number of divorces was 21,384. During this period, 7,768 divorces were registered among couples who had lived together from 10 to 19 years, 5,715 up to 5 years, 5,347 from 5 to 9 years, and 2,554 divorces were accounted for by family unions with 20 or more years of experience.

According to existing statistics, in 2023, 21,688 divorces were registered in the country. Of these, 7,735 cases were in marriages that lasted from 10 to 19 years. In the same year, 5,814 divorces were officially registered in marriages with up to 5 years of experience, 5,805 from 5 to 9 years, and 2,334 among spouses who had been married for 20 or more years.
