Cristiano Ronaldo stripped of the number 7 shirt in the Portugal national team
Galatasaray forward Rafael Leao has received the number seven shirt in the Portugal national team instead of Cristiano Ronaldo.
This is evidenced by Portugal's squad list for the Nations League on the official website of the Union of European Football Associations.
Ronaldo had played for the Portugal national team wearing number seven since the 2007/08 season.
On October 1, it was reported that Ronaldo faces a six-month suspension for leaving the Portugal national team without authorization.
It is noted that the disciplinary regulations of the Portuguese Football Federation provide for sanctions for such violations. Ronaldo may be fined or suspended from the national team for a period of one to six months.
The 41-year-old forward still holds two world records connected with the national team — the title of the all-time leading goalscorer (146 goals) and the record for the number of matches played (234).
