As 1news.az correspondent reports, Azerbaijani fighter Rafael Fiziev, who became the winner of the UFC Fight Night tournament bout held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku, said this while answering journalists' questions.
According to Fiziev, discipline and precise execution of the team's instructions played a key role in the successful confrontation with a formidable opponent. The athlete acknowledged that Torres possesses enormous knockout power, so the cost of a mistake in the octagon was extremely high.
"My teammate and cornerman Alim Nabiev gave me one simple instruction: 'Keep your left hand high and tuck your chin.' That is exactly what I focused on throughout the round," noted R. Fiziev.
"I know that a huge number of people in Azerbaijan support me right now, and I don't want them to have to wait for a tournament here just to see my victory. I no longer want to lose because I know how many people get upset by my defeats," the athlete concluded.
