Children of heroes Polad Hashimov and Aresta Bakhyshova among the 2026 graduates of Baku Oxford School

Among the 2026 graduates of Baku Oxford School are Teymur Hashimov, son of National Hero of Azerbaijan Major General Polad Hashimov, and Merdan Mammadli, son of Aresta Bakhyshova, the only female martyr of the Patriotic War.

Polad Hashimov lost his life defending the Motherland in battles on the Tovuz direction in July 2020. Aresta Bakhyshova, a military medic, lost her life during the Patriotic War of 2020.

Both young men received an education at Baku Oxford School thanks to the support program for families of martyrs — an initiative implemented at the school for many years. Today, 16 children of martyrs, whose parents sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, are studying here on a completely free basis.

For Baku Oxford School, this program is not a formality, but part of the school's mission: to provide children of heroes with access to quality education and equal opportunities for the future, regardless of the family's financial situation. The graduation of Teymur and Merdan is another confirmation that this support brings real results.
