Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry Issues Statement on Iran's Attack
On March 5, during the afternoon hours, drone attacks were carried out on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
1news.az reports that this was stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is reported that one drone struck the terminal building of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic's Airport, while another drone landed near a school building in the village of Shakarabad.
"We strongly condemn these drone attacks carried out from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which resulted in damage to the airport building and injuries to two civilians.
This attack on Azerbaijani territory contradicts the norms and principles of international law and serves to increase tensions in the region.
We demand that the Islamic Republic of Iran promptly clarify this matter, provide an explanation, and take necessary urgent measures to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
The Azerbaijani side reserves the right to take appropriate response measures.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mujtaba Darmichilu, has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A strong protest has been expressed to the Iranian side, and a corresponding protest note will be submitted," the statement noted.
