Pashinyan: New Constitution of Armenia should not reference the Declaration of Independence

The new Constitution should not reference the Declaration of Independence, stated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.

“I have clearly expressed my position, stating that the new Constitution should not contain a reference to the Declaration. Why? Very simply, based on the need to not continue the Karabakh movement. If we adopt a new Constitution today, and the text of the preamble includes a reference to the Declaration, it will mean that we are continuing the Karabakh movement. If we continue the Karabakh movement, it means we are renewing the conflict with Azerbaijan. If we renew the conflict with Azerbaijan, it means peace is impossible,” Pashinyan said.
