Tractor hits mine in Khojavend, driver injured
On August 21, a mine explosion occurred on the territory of the village of Dudukchu in the Khojavend district.
A joint statement was issued by the press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Mine Action Agency (ANAMA).
According to the agencies, Ramal Giyas oglu Shirinov (born in 1983), a resident of the city of Sumgayit, was driving a tractor in an area where demining work has not yet been completed. As a result of driving over a mine, he sustained various bodily injuries.
The Khojavend District Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
ANAMA, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Prosecutor General's Office once again urged citizens to strictly observe safety rules, pay attention to warning signs about mine danger, not touch suspicious objects, not enter unfamiliar territories, and not penetrate fenced-off zones where demining work is underway.
