On March 6, a phone conversation took place between the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, and the Vice President of the Republic of Turkey, Cevdet Yılmaz.

As reported by AZERTAC from the Cabinet of Ministers, during the phone conversation, a strong protest was expressed against the drone strikes carried out on March 5 on the Republic of Azerbaijan by the Islamic Republic of Iran. It was emphasized that these attacks contradict the norms and principles of international law.

Ali Asadov noted that as a result of the drone attack by the Iranian side on our country, the Nakhchivan International Airport, a school, and other facilities were targeted, several civilians were injured, and damage was caused to the airport terminal building.

It was highlighted that following the incident, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called President Ilham Aliyev and immediately expressed his support for the Azerbaijani people, which is a clear demonstration of the unwavering brotherhood and solidarity between the two countries.

The Prime Minister thanked the brotherly Turkish side for their prompt support in temporarily organizing flights to Iğdır Airport to ensure the safety of flights to Nakhchivan in light of the current situation.

During the phone conversation, current issues on the agenda related to the ongoing situation were also discussed.
