China to increase oil purchases from US
Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed interest during a meeting with US leader Donald Trump in increasing oil purchases from the US in order to reduce dependence on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The White House reported this.
"Chairman Xi Jinping also made clear that China is against the militarization of the [Hormuz] Strait and any attempts to charge for its use, and also expressed interest in purchasing a larger volume of American oil to reduce China's dependence on the strait in the future," the statement said.
