British Navy reports attack on vessel in the Strait of Hormuz

A vessel came under fire in the Strait of Hormuz, and a crew member was killed, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) center of the British Navy reported.

"A security officer reported that the vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile while exiting the Strait of Hormuz. The strike caused damage to the engine room and the death of a crew member," the UKMTO said in a statement on X.

The remaining crew members are being assisted by the Omani coast guard, and an investigation into the incident is underway. The UKMTO warned vessels in the region to exercise caution and to report any suspicious activity in the area.
