London assured Washington that measures against Israel are symbolic

British diplomats have privately told U.S. officials that the measures London is preparing regarding Israeli settlements in the West Bank are largely symbolic and should not significantly affect trade and military ties between the United Kingdom and Israel.

This was reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.

According to the publication, such assurances were intended to reduce the likelihood of a negative reaction from the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump ahead of the official announcement of the new measures by the government of Prime Minister Andy Burnham.
