Verdict Delivered in Russia for Shahin Shykhlinsky and Safarov Brothers
The Kirovsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has delivered a verdict for the leader of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Shahin Shykhlinsky, and the Safarov brothers.
Shahin Shykhlinsky has been sentenced to 22 years in prison, according to Russian media reports.
Akif Safarov was sentenced to 21 years, Ayaz Safarov to 20 years, Kyamal Safarov to 14 years, Mazahir Safarov to 13 years, and Bakir Safarov to 10 years in prison.
Shudjayaddin Rajabov was also sentenced to 14 years in prison.
It should be noted that in June 2025, Russian law enforcement agencies conducted an operation against Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg. During the operation, violence was used, resulting in the deaths of two Azerbaijani natives, brothers Ziyaddin and Huseyn Safarov, due to injuries sustained. Other Safarov brothers were arrested by court decision. They were charged with committing crimes in 2001, 2010, and 2011.
Later, in Yekaterinburg, the leader of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Shahin Shykhlinsky, and his son Mutvaly Shikhlinisky were detained. A criminal case was initiated against Mutvaly Shikhlinisky under the article on the use of violence against a representative of the authorities. Shahin Shykhlinsky was charged with attempting an 'ordered murder and use of violence' against a representative of the authorities.
In connection with this criminal case, on July 16, 2025, M. Shikhlinisky was detained, and the court imposed a measure of restraint in the form of arrest. Shahin Shykhlinsky was declared wanted. On August 2, he was detained in Moscow and transferred to Yekaterinburg. On August 24, 2025, the court imposed a measure of restraint in the form of arrest on him.
