Yerevan discusses the removal of obstacles with the EAEU

Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Alexander Subbotin, Minister for Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, discussed issues of technical regulation within the EAEU and the removal of obstacles at a meeting in Yerevan, the Armenian government reported.

"The meeting discussed issues of technical regulation within the EAEU, cooperation in the field of regulation, standardization of conformity assessment, and the work being carried out toward removing technical obstacles," the press release said.

Grigoryan and Subbotin exchanged views on existing problems and their solutions, and outlined areas for further cooperation.

Notably, the meeting took place against the backdrop of restrictions imposed by Russia on certain goods from Armenia. These restrictions successively affected flowers, vegetables, berries, fruits, grapes, potatoes and dried fruits, and, as of June 12, virtually all products of plant origin, with the exception of canned goods. Restrictions were also imposed on supplies of fish products from Armenian enterprises.

Rosselkhoznadzor explains the measures taken by citing identified violations of phytosanitary and veterinary-sanitary requirements. Russia, meanwhile, remains the main market for Armenian agricultural products — it accounts for more than 90% of the corresponding exports.
