Cyber police shut down the activities of organizers of illegal online casinos - VIDEO
The Main Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is continuing operations against individuals organizing illegal online bookmaking and casino games on the country's territory.
During the latest operation by the cyber police, Maharram Guliyev, Senan Farziyev and Hikmet Hasanov were detained — it was established that they were drawing citizens into illegal gambling through the platforms "Xbet," "MostBet" and "Vimpay," whose activities are banned in the country, 1news.az reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In an apartment rented by the detainees in the capital and used to carry out the illegal activity, technical equipment, bank cards, mobile phones and cash were found.
The investigation established that members of the group legalized large sums of money obtained through the aforementioned platforms in various ways.
A criminal case has been opened into the matter under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and the investigation is ongoing.
"We once again call on citizens not to take part in illegal casinos and gambling games offered on social networks and internet platforms. Organizing and managing such illegal games, as well as participating in them as a player, entail legal liability in accordance with the requirements of the law," the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
