Pentagon puts on pause possible supply of weapons to Taiwan for $14 billion
The United States has put on pause the possible supply of weapons to Taiwan worth $14 billion due to the need for these armaments to wage war against Iran.
This was stated at hearings in the Senate Appropriations Committee of the US Congress by Acting US Navy Secretary Hung Kao.
"I have not spoken with representatives of Taiwan on this matter, and we have facilitated the sale of some weapons to them. But at the moment we have put them on pause to make sure that we have weapons for [operation] 'Epic Fury'. We have enough of them, but we just want to make sure that we have everything we need," Kao said in response to a question about the pause in approving the possible supply of American weapons to Taiwan worth $14 billion. "Arms supplies abroad will continue when the administration deems it necessary," he added.
