Araghchi: US must convince Israel to stop attacks on Lebanon
US is obligated to stop the Israel Defense Forces attacks on Lebanon and ensure a sustainable ceasefire.
This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein.
"According to the first point of the memorandum of understanding, military operations must be completely stopped on all fronts, including Lebanon," he recalled.
Araghchi regretfully emphasized that Israel's attacks on Lebanon continue. "Nevertheless, according to the obligations undertaken in the memorandum, direct responsibility for stopping this aggression, establishing a ceasefire regime, and withdrawing troops from the occupied territories of Lebanon lies with the US government," the Iranian minister emphasized.
In addition, Araghchi welcomed Hussein's proposal to hold eight-party negotiations between the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Iran, and Iraq, stating his readiness to cooperate with Baghdad on this issue.
