France has recorded 1,000 additional deaths due to extreme heat.

This was reported by the National Agency for Public Health of France.

It is clarified that most of the deceased are people over 65 years old. The agency did not rule out an increase in the disappointing indicator after receiving data from nursing homes and boarding institutions.

French Health Minister Stephanie Rist warned that the effects of the heat could be felt up to 10 days after temperatures drop. "The episode is not over yet," she said.

At the same time, the agency notes that the heat is shifting eastward. In most regions of France, temperatures have decreased, but weather danger warnings remain in the northeast. Authorities urge citizens to take precautions and pay attention to the elderly.

Scientists note that the abnormal heat that began on June 20 broke records in the history of observations in Europe. It caused dozens of deaths, disrupted the operation of power plants, and damaged the infrastructure of a number of countries.
