Armenian CEC finds no crime in Pashinyan's threats against opponents
Armenia's Central Election Commission found no violations in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's threats to "bend," "put on knees," "crush," voiced against opponents.
The commission rejected the statement filed by representative of the "Strong Armenia" bloc Aram Vardevanyan with a request to consider the prime minister's statements during pre-election meetings. The parliamentary candidate claimed in his appeal that Pashinyan's public speeches contained expressions discrediting various political forces, sowing public enmity, and insulting the sense of dignity of politicians.
According to the CEC, the words of the ruling force leader "though they do not fit into the context of restraint and political correctness," nevertheless "do not cause perception of psychological, physical or religious coercion" or any forms of violence.
Parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 7. Sixteen parties and 2 blocs will take part in them.
