American R&B singer Peabo Bryson has died at the age of 76.
In a statement from relatives published by Variety, it is said that the two-time Grammy Award winner passed away on June 2, 2026, surrounded by loved ones - the cause of death is not officially named, however, the family previously reported that the artist had suffered a stroke.
Peabo Bryson was one of the most famous performers of romantic ballads and duets in the R&B genre. He gained worldwide popularity from songs from Disney animated films - "Beauty and the Beast," recorded with Celine Dion, and "A Whole New World," performed in a duet with Regina Belle.
Among the artist's other well-known hits are "Tonight," "I Celebrate My Love," "If Ever You're in My Arms Again," "Can You Stop the Rain," and "As Long as There's Christmas."
Over a career spanning more than fifty years, Peabo Bryson released numerous successful albums and became one of the key figures in the American R&B scene. In addition to his musical activities, he also participated in work on television projects, including the popular soap opera "One Life to Live," for which he recorded a vocal version of the main theme.
