Dry cargo ship with Azerbaijani sailors attacked in the Black Sea - VIDEO
Another vessel with Azerbaijani sailors as part of the crew has come under attack in the Black Sea.
According to Musavat.com, the dry cargo ship “Babylon” was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) near the Russian city of Anapa.
As a result of the attack, the vessel sustained damage, but the safety of the crew members was ensured. The sailors on board were evacuated and taken to the nearest port. According to preliminary data, there are no fatalities or serious injuries among the crew members.
No official statement has been issued regarding which side carried out the attack. In recent days, amid the Russia-Ukraine war, the number of drone attacks on civilian cargo ships in the Black and Azov seas has increased. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has also warned of growing threats to civilian shipping.
It should be recalled that several days ago the cargo ship “Atlas Bey” was also attacked by a drone off the coast of Odessa.
Eleven Azerbaijani sailors were on board that vessel. As a result of the attack, the ship’s captain, Azerbaijani Samed Nasrullaev, was killed, while the remaining crew members were safely evacuated.
Investigations into the extent of damage related to the vessel “Babylon” and other details of the incident are ongoing.
