"I freed Armenia": Pashinyan says continuation of "Karabakh movement" would have led to loss of statehood
The most important thing that happened is that the Republic of Armenia has emerged from the trap of constant conflict.
This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"Yes, I am the person who said that 'Artsakh is Armenia and that's it.' This is because I was devoted to the idea that we were fed for 30 years. But I went down this path and saw, I said, with all honesty, that we have no right to pass this conflict, this bleeding wound, on to future generations. We must pass peace to our children. And I pursued this issue in all possible ways and saw that it was a temptation. And I saw that it was a trap. And yes, it was I who showed courage and told the people that we are going the wrong way, that we must stop and not continue the 'Karabakh movement.' Thanks to this, we are now more of a state than ever, more independent than ever, more secure than ever, and more prosperous than ever," Pashinyan said during an election campaign in Gegharkunik region, Armenian media report.
According to the prime minister, peace has been established in Armenia today: "And I congratulate all of you on this, on the established peace. For two years now, there have been no casualties or wounded on our borders. And this is the greatest manifestation of respect for the memory of our victims."
In his opinion, continuing the "Karabakh movement" would have led only to new victims, new wars, and ultimately to the loss of Armenian statehood. "We have liberated, I have liberated the Republic of Armenia. And I consider this my greatest service rendered to the Republic of Armenia," concluded Nikol Pashinyan.
