Another Meeting of the Coordination Headquarters Held in Khojavend
Under the chairmanship of Samir Nuriyev, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Coordination Headquarters for the Centralized Resolution of Issues in the Territories Liberated from Occupation, another meeting of the headquarters took place in the city of Khojavend.
As reported by AZERTAC, Samir Nuriyev, speaking at the meeting, noted that the process of the 'Great Return' to the territories liberated from occupation is one of the main directions of the state policy and long-term development strategy of the country, implemented under the leadership of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. He stated that this process encompasses not only the physical restoration of the territories but also a comprehensive approach that envisages the revival of life in these lands, ensuring sustainable socio-economic development, and the dignified return of former internally displaced persons to their native regions.
According to the head of the headquarters, the primary priority in the large-scale construction and restoration works carried out in recent years in the liberated territories has been the creation of basic infrastructure. The restoration of electricity, gas, and water supply infrastructure, as well as the construction of roads, bridges, and tunnels, has established the initial necessary conditions for the revival of life in the region. At the current stage, a significant portion of the resources allocated by the state is directed toward expanding the housing stock, constructing and restoring individual and multi-apartment buildings. Alongside this, the operation of social facilities such as schools, kindergartens, medical centers, and state service centers is being organized. It was noted that this approach allows former internally displaced persons returning to their native lands to quickly adapt to normal living conditions from the very first days.
The head of the headquarters emphasized that, to date, 41 settlements have been built and restored in the territories liberated from occupation, and the return of former internally displaced persons to these areas has been facilitated. He stated that, thanks to the work carried out, more than 80,000 people currently live and work in the liberated territories, including those employed in the public and private sectors, as well as students and pupils. It was noted that in the upcoming period, as a result of ongoing large-scale construction and restoration works, the resettlement process will accelerate further, and the scope of the 'Great Return' program will expand.
It was highlighted that the implementation of projects in the liberated territories is being carried out within the framework of the First State Program 'Great Return.' The measures envisaged by the program are being implemented consistently, allowing for the phased achievement of set goals and the successful continuation of the construction and restoration process.
Samir Nuriyev stressed that the sustainability of resettlement is directly linked to the creation of employment opportunities. In this regard, the importance of opening new job opportunities, expanding activities in the agricultural sector, services, production, construction, and logistics, as well as stimulating entrepreneurship, attracting investors, and introducing support mechanisms was noted.
Highlighting that the restoration of historical, cultural, and religious monuments is one of the important directions of the 'Great Return' process, the head of the headquarters stated that this holds special significance for preserving national and cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations.
Subsequently, in accordance with the meeting's agenda, information was presented on the activities of the Interdepartmental Center of the Coordination Headquarters, as well as on the work carried out under the First State Program 'Great Return.' Reports were heard on the ongoing efforts to expand the resettlement process, increase economic activity, develop entrepreneurship, and restore cultural heritage.
In conclusion, the meeting emphasized that for the effective implementation of the strategic tasks set by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, it is important to carry out the necessary measures in a timely manner. The need to take concrete steps on each issue and to promptly fulfill the given instructions was noted.
