Father of EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas dies
The father of EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas — Siim Kallas — died on the night of August 22 at the age of 77.
As 1news.az reports citing foreign media, she announced this on social media.
"With sorrow I must report that my dear father died last night," she wrote.
He was the founder of the Reform Party, former prime minister of Estonia in 2002–2003, and former vice president of the European Commission (2004-2014).
After the restoration of Estonia's independence, Kallas was president of the Bank of Estonia, overseeing the introduction of the kroon into circulation and the preparation of the 1992 monetary reform.
