On April 3, 2026, a meeting was held with the participation of NGO representatives working in the fields of youth and women as part of the 'Peace Bridge' initiative.
During the meeting, participants shared their views on the peace process and engaged in discussions about the current situation and future opportunities.
In the speeches, the role of civil society in this process was particularly emphasized, and proposals were voiced on various directions.
According to 1news.az, Farhad Mammadov, the director of the South Caucasus Research Center and coordinator of the 'Peace Bridge' initiative, provided information about the initiative. He stated that a peace agenda has been formed following the agreements reached between the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia. According to him, political contacts have increased, economic activity has expanded, and steps have been taken toward establishing direct and transit connections.
F. Mammadov provided detailed information about the peace process and also spoke at length about the meetings held and the discussions conducted within this framework.
According to him, the peace process is of an extraordinary nature: although the war has ended, obstacles to signing a final agreement remain. Nevertheless, it has already been demonstrated that cooperation in political and economic spheres is possible, and these relations are based on mutual interests.
He noted that relations in the field of civil society are more complex, and efforts are being made to develop both international platforms and direct bilateral initiatives in this direction. In conclusion, he stated that dialogue will continue at the level of youth, media, women's organizations, and experts.
The event participants raised questions of interest regarding peace between the two countries.
The questions mainly focused on future cooperation opportunities, strengthening inter-societal trust, ensuring the natural progression of the peace process, its phased implementation, the involvement of different societal layers in this process, conducting awareness-raising activities, and the practical stages of the process.
During the discussions, participants shared their positions and highlighted various approaches.
Additionally, the necessity of increasing the role of civil society in the peace process was emphasized.
Participants noted the importance of holding such meetings regularly and stressed the significance of continuing peace initiatives on a broader scale.
