At least 15 newborns have become victims of a fire that broke out in one of Pakistan's hospitals.
This was reported by the Geo television channel, citing sources in the rescue services.
The emergency occurred in the country's capital, Islamabad. In the maternity ward of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), an air conditioner compressor exploded, after which a fire broke out.
"At least 15 newborns died as a result of the incident," the report says.
It is noted that only one infant managed to survive.
The fire has now been extinguished. However, rescuers are still working at the scene of the emergency.
