Trump announces the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on the social network Truth Social that the Strait of Hormuz is once again fully open to shipping, and that the mines placed in its international waters have been destroyed or neutralized.

According to Trump, the U.S. Navy informed him of the completion of the operation to clear the strait of mines. He also stated that Iran had been warned: any ship or boat that attempts to lay new mines will be «immediately and systematically destroyed».

The American leader added that the United States continues to maintain constant surveillance of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as of Mount Pickaxe and the three previously destroyed nuclear facilities.

Trump emphasized that Washington adheres to a policy of «zero tolerance» toward any new attempts to mine the strait.

Earlier, at the beginning of August, the U.S. president had already named the timeframe for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz to shipping.
