Court arrests son of Armenia's former President Kocharyan
Armenia's Anti-Corruption Court has ruled to arrest Sedrak Kocharyan, the eldest son of the republic's former president, for two months.
This was reported by the news.am portal, citing lawyer Alexander Kochubaev.
As Kochubaev noted, during his arrest the ex-president's son will be able to see only his wife and children.
The republic's Anti-Corruption Committee announced that it had submitted to the Anti-Corruption Court a motion to apply arrest as a measure of restraint against six people detained on Tuesday as part of criminal proceedings over money laundering on an especially large scale, abuse of official position and receiving a large bribe. Officers of the National Security Service conducted searches at the apartment of a deputy of the "Armenia" faction, former President Levon Kocharyan's son, and at affiliated companies.
Armenia's Prosecutor General's Office announced the initiation of a criminal case against former President Robert Kocharyan, charging him with abuse of official position, receiving a bribe on an especially large scale and money laundering. The case also involves former President Serzh Sargsyan, who was defense minister during Kocharyan's presidency.
