More than 280 flights canceled in Japan due to typhoon
More than 280 flights have been canceled in Japan due to the approach of Typhoon Soudelor.
The main restrictions have affected air traffic between various regions of the country and Okinawa Prefecture in the southwest
Both departures from Naha and flights bound for the island have been canceled.
The adverse weather conditions have also affected international air traffic. Among those canceled were about 20 international flights operating to China, the Republic of Korea, and Singapore.
Typhoon Soudelor is currently moving in the Okinawa area in a westerly direction. Its speed is about 15 kilometers per hour.
According to meteorological observations, wind gusts in the epicenter of the typhoon reach speeds of 55 meters per second, which poses a threat to air traffic and may lead to further restrictions on flights in the region.
