Azerbaijan simplifies visa procedures for Formula 1 guests
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an Order on simplifying visa procedures for foreign citizens and stateless persons arriving in the country in connection with the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship round in Baku.
1news.az reports this with reference to the official website of the head of state.
According to the document, from August 25 to September 30, 2026, foreigners and stateless persons will be able to obtain a visa directly at the international airports of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The basis for issuing a simplified visa on arrival is one of several approved documents. First of all, this is an accreditation card or another document confirming registration in accordance with the rules of Formula One Management Limited and the International Automobile Federation (FIA). An accreditation card issued by the Baku City Circuit Operations Company serves as a similar basis. In addition, a visa can be obtained upon presentation of a ticket for the 2026 Baku Formula 1 race, including an electronic version, or a document officially confirming its purchase.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has been instructed to inform Formula One Management Limited, the FIA, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), as well as the relevant authorities of foreign countries, about the simplification of the visa regime. In addition, the Foreign Ministry will ensure the publication of information on the procedure for obtaining visas at airports and on the possibilities of obtaining an electronic visa through the ASAN Viza system on the websites of the ministry and the country's diplomatic missions and consulates abroad.
The State Migration Service of Azerbaijan has been instructed to promptly convey information about the new entry rules to all airlines operating regular and charter flights to the republic.
