Iranian Ambassador Thanks Azerbaijan for Humanitarian Aid
The Iranian Ambassador to Baku, Mojtaba Demirchilu, expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for providing humanitarian aid to his country.
'Azerbaijan is sending humanitarian aid to Iran for the second time. Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank the government and people of Azerbaijan,' the ambassador told journalists.
The ambassador noted that the first batch of humanitarian aid to Iran came from Azerbaijan, and some countries have expressed their intention to use the territory of the Azerbaijan Republic (AR) to provide humanitarian assistance to the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI).
'This stems from our shared culture - in difficult times, we help each other. This positive step and kind gesture are especially valuable to Iran on the eve of the Nowruz holiday. We hope to celebrate future holidays together,' the diplomat remarked.
As reported, on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, another batch of humanitarian aid was sent to the Islamic Republic of Iran today.
The aid was organized following a telephone conversation between Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Masoud Pezeshkian on March 8, 2026. The goal is to support the current needs of the neighboring and friendly Iranian people.
The total volume of the humanitarian aid shipment is 82 tons: 76 tons of food and food products, 4 tons of medicinal drugs, and 2 tons of medical supplies.
The humanitarian cargo was transported by 5 freight trucks (TIR).
Considering the approaching Nowruz holiday, festive gifts and various products related to Nowruz were also included in the humanitarian aid.
To accompany and deliver this latest batch of humanitarian aid sent by the Republic of Azerbaijan, officials from the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Reserves Agency of Azerbaijan traveled to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
