Uzbekistan wants to introduce bodyguard services for foreign tourists

Uzbekistan's law enforcement agencies may begin providing bodyguard services to tourists to ensure their safety.

This was reported by the press service of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"The Security Department has presented new types of services. In particular, the use of bodyguard services to ensure the personal safety of foreign tourists, official delegations, business representatives and other guests of the country was discussed," the statement says.

It is noted that the service will make it possible to ensure a foreigner's safety during a trip, assess all risks in advance, organize security measures along the route and respond promptly in the event of an emergency.

Such measures were proposed during a meeting between the head of the Security Department, Kobil Shodibekov, and the deputy chairman of Uzbekistan's Tourism Committee, Sukhrobjon Bobokalonov. In addition to bodyguards, the parties discussed the broader use of technical security equipment, modern video surveillance systems and rapid response teams at tourist sites. Furthermore, law enforcement officials intend to analyze risks along routes popular with tourists and, if necessary, strengthen the protection of facilities and establish operational communication.

Participants in the meeting emphasized that security remains "one of the important factors influencing the international image and tourist appeal of the country."
