Trump indifferent to whether Iran returns to the negotiating table
US President Donald Trump has stated that he is not concerned about whether Iran will return to the negotiating table.
"I don’t care if they [return to the negotiating table] or not. If they don’t come back, that’s fine with me," he told reporters after landing at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington. The president was responding to a question about when he believes Iran will agree to resume talks with the US on resolving the armed conflict.
According to the head of the White House, "Iran is in very bad shape" and in a desperate situation.
On April 11, Iran and the US held several rounds of talks in Islamabad. The Iranian delegation was led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, while the American delegation was headed by Vice President JD Vance. As later reported in Tehran and Washington, the parties failed to reach an agreement on the issue of long-term conflict resolution due to certain disagreements. Details of a possible new round of negotiations remain unknown.
