Smotrich calls for the immediate expulsion of the British ambassador from Israel

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has called for the British ambassador to be immediately expelled from the country.

The corresponding post appeared on his X social network account.

The statement was prompted by reports of British sanctions being prepared against Israeli settlements in the West Bank. According to The Guardian, UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband intends to impose a ban on trade in goods and a number of services from these settlements on Tuesday, September 8.

Smotrich reacted sharply to this information, calling for the British ambassador to be expelled as soon as the evening of September 8.

"Expel the British ambassador this very evening. We will not be a doormat for an anti-Semitic government in a country seized by radical Islam and trying to save itself from economic and social collapse by attacking Jews and the State of Israel. The British Mandate in Israel is over," he wrote on the social network.
