Trump: U.S. takes most of the oil from captured Iranian tankers
The head of the American administration, Donald Trump, stated that the U.S. has taken most of the oil from Iranian tankers captured in the Indian Ocean.
"Most of it goes to the United States," he said, addressing the issue in an interview with the Salem News Channel.
Speaking on May 1 in West Palm Beach, Florida, before members of the local Forum club, Trump admitted that American military personnel act like pirates when seizing tankers with Iranian oil.
Earlier, Iran's permanent representative to the UN, Amir Saeed Iravani, stated in a letter sent to the UN Security Council that the U.S. committed an act of aggression and state piracy by capturing two Iranian commercial vessels, Majestic and Tifani, and stealing 3.8 million barrels of Iranian oil. Tehran qualifies the U.S. actions as a "gross violation of the UN Charter" and demands that the Security Council take measures. Iran emphasized that it reserves the right to "counter these brazen actions" in accordance with international law.
